Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Nationalist ideologies play a pivotal role in fostering unity and collective identity, particularly in multi-ethnic and diverse societies. In Birnin Kebbi LGA, Kebbi State, independence day celebrations provide a platform for expressing and reinforcing nationalist ideals. These events, marked by cultural displays, speeches, and communal activities, aim to promote national cohesion and pride. Nationalist ideologies emphasize shared history, values, and aspirations, serving as a unifying force amidst socio-political and ethnic diversity (Abubakar & Sule, 2024; Umar et al., 2023).
